Harriotts Acre Care Home

Taken through to the planning stage this proposed care home building is to accommodate 62 single bedrooms and associated communal and servicing facilities. This has been designed in a single built form that is broken down into a central core and three residential wings. The internal spaces have all been carefully considered and based on or greater than the minimal requirements set out in the National Minimum Standards of The Care Homes Regulations 2001.
To maximise the potential of the limited building footprint and to increase the amount of external space to the site we have designed a sub-basement to provide additional accommodation to two of the wings. This is provided by excavating the middle of the site, away from any mature trees etc and to design a gentle gradient bank to either side of the southern projecting wing.
The scheme has been part of a comprehensive feasibility study which investigated the different possible uses for the site and their probable financial returns. Following this we focused on providing the client with various design options to comply with the clients brief.
