St Mary Cottage

When Offset Architects began preparing the planning application at St Mary Cottage, the existing bungalow was in a very poor state of repair and its character was spoilt by numerous unattractive extensions. The internal spaces were poorly laid out and dark.

As part of the scheme, Offset Architects were required to work to the client’s brief for the renovation and extension of the property, whilst also sensitively considering the building’s historic context – the site being situated in a Conservation Area, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Green Belt and an area of Archaeological Significance. This involved close collaboration with the client and the Council’s Planning Department to produce, what is now, a four bedroom family home with a generous and beautifully light living space incorporating a feature vaulted living room.
