Rewind Pause Forward

Acorn Shipyard

Offset Architects’ involvement in this scheme dates back to 2017, from early design development through to planning approval.

This project comprises the construction of 132x one and two-bedroom apartments arranged across three residential blocks, alongside a detached commercial building incorporating a café. Located on a prominent riverside site in Rochester, the scheme was presented to Medway Council’s planning committee and secured approval with a unanimous 13–1 vote in favour.

The design responds to a complex site with multiple constraints, requiring the integration of a new river wall, a lower ground–level parking area, landscaping and an extension to the existing riverside walk. Through close collaboration with a multidisciplinary consultant team and Medway Council, a high-density scheme was achieved that successfully met all planning requirements for landscaping, parking provision, and biodiversity enhancement.
